Why I hate horror movies

I do not hate them because I am afraid of them. I hate them because they insidiously instill nasty images inside one’s mind (with one’s full consent).

I have taken a resolution of which we will talk about the implementations in the following articles. This resolution is to monitor tightly each image or word that penetrates my mind. Look at it like a firewall. You have got to prevent nasty influences from entering your mind. Otherwise, they will enthrone themselves, and poison your thoughts without you being aware of it.

First, let’s break this straight: watching horror movies does not make you more courageous. I have seen countless fans of horror movies. They have seen them all: the clowns, the dolls, the puppets — they know every title from every decade. Guess what they have in common ? In real life, they are all crybabies when they face a real threat. I don’t even know why that is. Maybe they are compensating for some violence they are lacking internally. Plus the fact that they enjoy watching people being t*rtued or m*urdered make them really strange and unappealing to me.

Anyway, like every big industry, the horror movie genre has been jeopardized. They are now designed to brainwash you in some sense. Let’s take “The Nun” movie as an example. Usually you would expect the “bad guy” of a horror movie to be some crazy dude, an alien, or — I don’t know – a devil. Then, why on Earth would you put a religious person as the evil ? Religious or not, this really disturbs me. Nuns are supposed to be pure hearted women embodying divine values. Not some blood thirsty monster ! Why would you dare such a blasphemy (just because it has a name, does not justify it). For God’s sake, leave the nuns alone. It is like the industry voluntarily want to dirty the image of religious people.

Now, some soyed horror movie fan is going to interject for a moment about some implicit underlying message that this movie is in fact not really against nuns. But it does not change anything because the public does not care. All we see is a pure image being degraded. Next you will hear the word “nun”, instead of hearing a Gregorian chant in your head, you will see this crazy dude dressed up with a veil and made up as a zombie looking creature running at you.

Even if it is not done on purpose, it still poisons your mind. That is why every horror movie is bad to watch.

Although that is true this may not apply to very old (more than 50 years old) horror movies. I recognize that modern horror movies are way more impactful. Be it in form with more realistic FX, or in substance with a more mature set of psychological mechanics.

One last thing that annoys me is the fact that every person in horror movies acts in stupid ways and plays the victim (I guess you would not have a horror movie without that). All you brain will have been in exposed to is that in a threatening situation what you have got to do is cry your eyes out and run around like a fool. There is no fighting back, no trying to figure out a strategy, no cold blood, just pure baby-level epidermic reaction. I do not care about some few exceptions.

So I hate horror movies. I had watched some back when I was a teenager. But I will erase that from my mind, because it has nothing to do up there. I will instead feed it with images of motivation, learning and will to live.

Honestly, you should probably do the same.
